Copa America 2024: Where Will Matches Be Played In the States?

Blog Image

Football fever is taking over Stateside, with the US set to become the beautiful game’s spiritual home over the next couple of years.

In the summer of 2025, the US will host the new-look Club World Cup, with 32 teams from across the globe fighting it out to be named champions.

Whereas one year later the actual World Cup - also an expanded edition - will be held in the States.

But first, it’s the turn of Copa America!

And in celebration of this year’s Copa America, we’ve explored the 14 cities hosting matches.

Atlanta, Georgia

Stadium: Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Capacity: 71,000

Kicking things off with the venue that will host the first match of the tournament in Atlanta, Georgia.

One of several multi-purpose arenas on this list, the whopping 71k capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host two group games.

Lionel Messi’s Argentina will get their Copa America campaign up and running in Atlanta when they take on Canada in the competition’s opening game.

Arlington, Texas

Stadium: AT&T Stadium

Capacity: 80,000

An eye-catching arena located between Fort Worth and Dallas, the AT&T Stadium is the second largest being used at Copa America.

The venue will host the USMNT’s opening game against Bolivia, as well as Peru vs Chile.

It could also play host to Mexico’s quarter-final clash, should El Tricolor make it through as group winners.

Austin, Texas

Stadium: Q2 Stadium

Capacity: 20,000

One of three soccer-specific stadiums involved at Copa America 2024, Q2 Stadium in Texas is home to MLS side Austin.

Built just three years ago, the Q2 Stadium might be one of the newest stadiums at the competition, but it’s also one of the smallest.

A maximum of 20,000 people will get to watch Jamaica vs Venezuela and Costa Rica vs Paraguay.

Charlotte, North Carolina

Stadium: Bank of America Stadium

Capacity: 75,000

A mammoth sporting arena located in uptown Charlotte, the Bank of America Stadium can house up to 75,000 people.

But football fans in North Carolina will have to wait until the tournament’s final week to catch a game at the Bank of America Stadium.

That’s because Charlotte’s two matches at Copa America 2024 are one of the semi-finals and the third place playoff.

East Rutherford, New Jersey

Stadium: MetLife Stadium

Capacity: 82,000

The largest of the 14 stadiums being used at Copa America, MetLife Stadium will too play host to a semi-final clash, along with two group matches.

Fans in New Jersey - and surrounding areas - will get the chance to see Messi in action, when his Argentina side take on 2016 winners Chile.

Elsewhere, Uruguay vs Bolivia is the other group match taking place at the stadium located nine miles east of New York City.

Houston, Texas

Stadium: NRG Stadium

Capacity: 72,000

An NFL venue by nature, NRG Stadium is no stranger to football - the one with a round ball - having hosted several pre-season friendlies over the years.

The third of three Texan stadiums on this list, Houston will host two group matches, along with one quarter-final tie.

And if Argentina finish top of Group A, Texans too could catch a glimpse of eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi.

Inglewood, California

Stadium: Sofi Stadium

Capacity: 70,000

The envy of the American sporting world, Sofi Stadium in Calafornia is one of the country’s most impressive venues.

Costing an estimated $6billion, the stadium was opened in 2020 and has been allocated two group games this summer.

The most eye-catching being Brazil vs Costa Rica, with the likes of Rodrygo, Endrick and Vinicius Junior set to descend on Inglewood.

Santa Clara, California

Stadium: Levi’s Stadium

Capacity: 68,000

The home of the San Fransisco 49ers, Levi’s Stadium is another venue accustomed to hosting football games.

One of the host venues the last time Copa America was held in the States, Levi’s Stadium has been treated to - yes you guessed it - two group games this time around.

The pick of the bunch being Brazil’s clash against Colombia - one of the group stage’s best match-ups.

Glendale, Arizona

Stadium: State Farm Stadium

Capacity: 64,000

Another one of the picks from Copa America 2016, State Farm Stadium is back again this year, with the Arizona-based arena treated to three matches.

Colombia take on Costa Rica at State Farm Stadium, before Mexico face off against Ecaudor in their final group game.

While Brazil are the most likely team to feature at the stadium in the knockouts, with State Farm hosting the quarter-foinal clash between the Group D winner and Group C runner-up.

Paradise, Nevada

Stadium: Allegiant Stadium

Capacity: 61,000

Paradise by name and paradise by nature: the Allegiant Stadium is one of the most impressive venues at this summer’s tournament.

Around 61,000 people will pack themselves into the arena in Nevada for two group games, including Brazil’s meeting with Paraguay.

While home field advantage could come into play during the knockouts, should the USMNT finish as winners in a tricky-looking Group C.

Kansas City, Missouri

Stadium: Arrowhead Stadium

Capacity: 74,000

The home ground of reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, Arrowhead Stadium is one of the most iconic venues involved at Copa America 2024.

But despite its pedigree, just one match will be played at the open-air stadium.

It will be a USNMT one though, with Gregg Berhalter’s side taking on Uruguay.

Kansas City, Kansas

Stadium: Children’s Mercy Park

Capacity: 18,000

Just a short ride away from Arrowhead is the second Copa America 2024 ground in Kansas City.

Children’s Mercy Park may be the smallest stadium at the tournament, but it is a soccer-specific venue, with MLS side Sporting Kansas City using it for home matches.

Peru vs Canada in the group stage is the only game Children’s Mercy Park is being used for.

Orlando, Florida

Stadium: Inter&Co Stadium

Capacity: 25,000

From one soccer-specifc ground to another, the stadium in downtown Orlando is another which will host two group games.

Orlando City’s 25,000 capacity Inter&Co Stadium is first being used for Canada’s group stage clash with Chile.

Before Bolivia and Panama make the journey to Florida for their Group C meeting.

Miami Gardens, Florida

Stadium: Hard Rock Stadium

Capacity: 64,000

And finally, the venue that will host the Copa America 2024 final… Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.

Two teams will fight it out for the Copa America trophy at the Hard Rock on July 14th.

Before that though, two (yes again) group games will be played in Maimi, with Argentina vs Peru the standout tie.
